Shortened Episode Description:

SUPERNATURAL – “A Little Slice of Kevin” (9:00-10:00pm)

Mrs. Tran (Lauren Tom) and Kevin (Osric Chau) work to concoct a demon bomb to use against Crowley (Mark Sheppard), and Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) are stunned when Castiel (Misha Collins) appears and tells them he escaped from Purgatory.

While talking to Misha Collins about his charitable scavenger hunt, he also confirmed a hunch we’d had about the last time Dean saw Cas. It was, in fact, while Dean was exiting Purgatory. But there’s much more to it than that. “That very moment is a pivotal moment. I think Dean is confused about what happened at that moment and won’t actually find out what happened then until episode 7,” he reveals. “It’s going to take a while to see that moment play out.” Suffice to say the truth hurts — especially on this show.

But when Cas does return topside, look for him to be “reinvigorated with a sense of purpose,” says Collins. “He essentially feels like he has to do good in order to right the wrongs of his past. So he starts to collaborate with Sam and Dean for that reason — so that he can continue to try to make things right. He’s no longer paying penance, really, because it’s no longer an act of suffering for him. But he’s doing his best to right the wrongs of his past.” Doing so won’t be as easy as he hopes, however. “He’s doing that in ways that help Sam and Dean and then, ultimately, it might also make life — as per usual with the Supernatural universe — complicated for Sam and Dean. At first, it seems like everything is hunky dory. But things quickly fall apart.”

The Winchesters definitely experienced a set back when it came to tracking down the word of God, which, as you know, is going to help them padlock the gates of hell for-ev-er. Luckily, we know that they will have another pair of hands in the fight when Cas re-enters the human realm. (Yes, when.) But as Misha Collins teases, Cas’s involvement could put him in major danger. “I think that that’s sort of the pivotal object of the season, that’s what everyone is after from every realm,” he says. “Cas is definitely involved in that process and caught in the crossfire.”

Episodes 7 and 8 will reveal much much more on that front as well as enlighten the audience about Cas’ arc for the season that involves a big threat, says Collins. “There’s something going on with Cas that neither Cas nor the brothers know. Cas is sort of being manipulated behind the scenes and he’s not aware of that and neither are the boys,” he says. “We’ll see how that affects their relationship in the long run.”
Meanwhile, when will we learn Cas’s thoughts on Dean’s new vampire buddy Benny? Soon. And let’s just say they all won’t likely be sharing beers any time soon. “He’s wary of Benny from the get-go, and I think that he then is possibly a bit jealous too of the friendship or camaraderie that happens between Dean and Benny,” he says. “You know, Cas doesn’t have a lot of other friends in Purgatory.” Someone get this angel a hug!

‘Supernatural’ Season 8 Adds Amanda Tapping as New Angel

The CW’s hit paranormal adventure Supernatural will be rolling out the blood-stained red carpet for sci-fi royalty Amanda Tapping (Stargate, Sanctuary) who will have a major recurring role in season 8. Tapping will playing a mysterious new breed of angel named Naomi – who, according to Supernatural showrunner Jeremy Carver, “we’ve never seen before.”

Debuting in episode 7 of season 8, tentatively titled ‘A Little Slice of Kevin’ – Naomi appears to be a buttoned-up bureaucrat with a hard, no-nonsense demeanor – similar to Matt Damon’s character in The Good Shepherd. Despite her proficient manner, Naomi is far less put-together than she appears to be, as she works hard to hide her underused emotions.

Tapping has been a genre-favorite for years, most notably due to her portrayal of Colonel Samantha Carter in the Stargate television franchise, as well as the immortal Doctor Helen Magnus on Syfy network’s recently-cancelled Sanctuary.

Supernatural season 8 will see the not-so-sweet reunion of brothers Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester, following Dean’s year-long stay in Purgatory. Breaking your way out of a demon-filled dimension isn’t easy, (despite Dean’s penchant for getting trapped in them), so he receives help from a less-than-ideal ally – a vampire named Benny, played by Battlestar Galactica alum, Ty Olsson. However, Benny’s assistance doesn’t come without a price: he will be returning to earth with Dean to further complicate the brothers’ already strained relationship.

Joining Tapping and Olsson this season is veteran actor Mike Farrell, best known for his role as Captain B.J. Hunnicutt on the iconic series M.A.S.H. Farrell will star in episode 8 as “an aging mentalist with a slippery grasp on reality.” Not much is known about Farrell’s role on the series beyond that – especially whose side he’ll be on – but either way he’ll most likely end up causing problems for the Winchester boys.

Supernatural Scoop: Stargate’s Amanda Tapping Snags Major Role – Plus: M*A*S*H Vet to Guest!

Sci-Fi staple Amanda Tapping (Stargate, Sanctuary) is joining Supernatural‘s eighth season in a major recurring role, TVLine has confirmed. Tapping will play Naomi, a character showrunner Jeremy Carver describes as “cool and mysterious, part of a new group of angels we’ve never seen before.”

The original casting breakdown for Naomi called her a “no-nonsense bureaucrat” a la Matt Damon in The Good Shepherd. “She wears a business suit and has her hair pulled back,” read the notice. “However, Naomi is less together than she appears to be. Her efficient manner belies a deeper emotionality.” Tapping will turn up in this season’s seventh episode, titled, “A Little Slice of Kevin.” In other Supe’ news, M*A*S*H‘ vet Mike Farrell will guest star in Episode 8 as Fred Jones, “an aging mentalist with a slippery grasp on reality,” explains Carver.

According to Spoiler-TV, there are two characters being cast for this episode.

One is a guest role of Delta Mondata is a young and flirtatious witch-for-hire.

And the other is a what they call a “Major Recurring Role” for a character called Naomi, a female in her 30’s. She’s an efficient bureaucrat in a business suit, but she’s more emotional than she looks.

“Supernatural”: Women don’t tend to stick around long on this show, so our ears perked up when a little birdie told us that we’ll soon see a “major recurring female character.” Naomi will debut in Episode 807, “A Little Slice of Kevin.”. She’s very buttoned up and polished (and described as similar to Matt Damon’s character in “The Good Shepherd”). All that poise and professionalism is just a farce, though — she’s got some serious issues. Oh, and FYI, that episode’s mystery-of-the-week centers around a woman named Delta, who is a rocker who may have become a “witch-for-hire” when her band broke up.

Prepare for a major new recurring character in Naomi, who’s all business – complete with a serious pulled back hairdo – and very private. But underneath that no-nonsense suit exterior, she’s not quite so together.
