Episode Description:

CASTIEL TAKES ON HIS NEW ROLE AS GOD — Castiel (Misha Collins) doesn’t kill Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) but warns them not to interfere in his business. Assuming his new role as God, Castiel sets out to right some of the wrongs in the world. Dean decides they should bind Death (guest star Julian Richings) and order him to stop Castiel, but the former angel is one step ahead of them, leaving Dean to face a very angry Death. Meanwhile, Sam struggles to deal with the broken wall in his head.

Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Sera Gamble (#701).

At the CW’s premiere party in Burbank last weekend, Misha Collins was nice enough to enlighten us on an issue that was of great (and shallow) interest to me: Castiel’s creepy facial scar. “Castiel is definitely having problems with his complexion in the first and second episodes of the season. Because he is God now, he has a lot of work to do, and is taking care of Hell, Earth, and Heaven. Frankly, in all of the craziness, he hasn’t time to see a dermatologist,” he joked. “It took three extra hours everyday in makeup to deal with the boils and blisters and deal with the puss-y disgustingness that was Castiel at the beginning of the season.”

LazyDaizy26: Misha Collins news, pretty please?
We talked with him just a couple days ago, and he had some very interesting things to say about the way we see his character off. You wanna know what he said? Sorry, got to wait a bit longer. Like, two more days. Then all will be revealed with our awesome video interview. Until then, enjoy the little spoiler nugget below.

Greg: Is there going to be a big bad on Supernatural this season? What is up with Castiel?

There are going to be multiple big bads. Big old big bads. Aka leviathans. And Castiel is the one who accidentally releases them into the world. Translation: This is not good for Sam and Dean.

TV Guide Magazine: Where does Season 7 start?
Ackles: It’s a direct pick-up from where we left off [in May]. Castiel [Misha Collins] looks at Sam and Dean and tells them that they’re essentially ants in the scheme of things. Now that he’s God, he has no need for them and to stay out of his way… When they track Cas down, they realize that when he took in all those monsters souls from purgatory, there were much older things that got into him as well. There’s a new, basically unknown, enemy in the world. It’s something that the guys have never dealt with.

Ackles: Death [Julian Richings] is in the season opener. He’s the one that gives Sam and Dean the information they need about Cas and the new evil that will loom over the guys for the first half of the season. There’s more than one. They could be anywhere. They don’t only want to kill the brothers, they want to take over the planet.

TV Guide Magazine: So the boys have to save the world again?
Ackles: Yes, they’re essentially going to have to save the world again.

‘Supernatural’ season 7 spoilers and more from the set – photos and video

Supernatural is getting ready to return to Channel 6 in Tempe this September with its seventh season, and fans are being given a few details about what to expect when the series does return. On Thursday, Spoiler TV released new photos and details about an upcoming episode. That new episode is episode 7.01 titled Meet The New Boss and it is the seventh season premiere. The site also released the latest preview trailer for the seventh season on Thursday as well. Check out the new photos and video.

Meet The New Boss looks to focus on Castiel and his transition into God. He is among dead angels in some of these photos, and according to the scene description provided, he says the following line of dialogue:

“It’s a new day. On Earth and in heaven. Rejoice.”

Earlier this summer, it was revealed that Misha Collins would return to Supernatural in a limited fashion for season seven. This could be the last episode fans see of Castiel.

As for the new preview, the Castiel plot is also the focus as Dean and the others try to convince their one time friend that he doesn’t need that power, but Castiel really seems to enjoy having it. Supernatural will have a panel at Comic Con on Sunday morning. The cast will take a break from filming to fly down from Vancouver, where their set is located, on Saturday.

Thanks to Christine, more detailed info on her Set Visit:

Title and info from the Premiere of Season 7. This info posted on Hollywood North On Location pretty much sums up all the info (at least from what I’ve read) that has been revealed so far.

Some teasers, tidbits or what some would call spoilers.
July 20th On Location in Vancouver.

There were five different scenes scheduled for today. The first two were exterior shots with Castiel among the 12 dead or fallen Angels.
He is speaking and the steady cam along with the crane camera were getting tight shots and wide shots.

He has a lot of dialogue and the description on the Angles is they are dead with charred outlines on their wings on the grass.
Castiel says ” It’s a new day. On Earth and in heaven. Rejoice”.

So it is pretty clear that Castiel is God.

The crew moves into the Mansion which is a huge beautiful building called Aberthau. It belongs to the Point Grey Community Center.

Sam, Dean and Bobby get into the house and look for an act of God. They find the owners of the house and come face to face with a shot gun. Dean ever so cool says “hi”.

Cut to
Sam and Bobby enter the study and find Dean tying up the elderly home owners.
Then a bunch of stuff happens and then Dean copies a sigil and they cut Sam’s arm for some drops of blood and add a bunch of stuff to a pestal and mash it up all the while Bobby is speaking Latin while mixing up the spell. “Te nunc invocco, Mortem”.

Then guess who appears?
Yup, the really bad guy (Death) but he is bound. Dean gives him a bag of take -out and says , “Fried Pickle Chip? Best in the state”.
Then some more bad stuff happens and they get into trouble and there is dialogue and end of day.

Sounds exciting right? All that took place inside the Mansion so I only saw what was outside.
Sam, Dean and Bobby were on location all afternoon. They will continue at the Mansion on Thursday and move to another location on Friday. The team is heading to ComicCon on Saturday at some point.

I really hope to find more sets in the future and take better pictures of Jared and Jensen. Misha and Jim are sweethearts. They don’t have a bodyguard to ensure the boys aren’t photographed. It is hard to get great shots because they are driven up to the doors of sets and don’t walk anywhere.

Some photos from Location today are posted on my Flickr. Enjoy!

Comic Convention Spoilers:

Executive producer Sera Gamble says that the first episode back in Season 7 will find Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) still reeling from the events of the cliffhanger that found their friend/angel Castiel (Misha Collins) turning bad.
“They are reeling from what’s been going on with this character that they’ve been best friends with,” says Gamble. “They didn’t see this coming from Castiel. If stuff wasn’t falling apart so fast, they would be emotionally falling apart more. Castiel has declared himself anew god to fall apart. The substance of episode 1 [Season 7] starts there.”
According to Gamble, Crowley (Mark Sheppard] will also return.
“Yes, you will see him very early in the season,” says Gamble. “Castiel said he wasn’t killing him because he had plans for him and we reveal what those plans will be. As usual he is extremely funny.”

Season 7 will pick up seconds after the last season, and the first crop of episodes will focus on Castiel having fun with his new God powers, his pride and the consequences of it.

Writers love to contemplate ramifications of God in the story line. Now that Castiel (Misha Collins) is God– and he will be God, at least in the season premiere episode– the writers are exploring a whole different kind of story. After all, when Chuck (Rob Benedict) was God, he just snapped his fingers and vanished. It was too heady to keep him around. But the season premiere is promised to be huge not only for Cas but also for the fans– Gamble teased that there will be a lot to talk about after it has aired. Collins also added that the death toll will be extremely high at Cas’ hands. He will be smiting left and right.

——————————————————————–

Jared Padalecki
There will be a big bad this season. They’ll have to deal with that, and it’s not Castiel or Crowley.
“Sam and Dean are going Thelma and Louise, I mean Butch and Sundance. We’re off on our own again.”

Ben Edlund
Castiel’s story starts with him stabilizing his God complex, but he wouldn’t go into too many details. “The first episode of the next season is almost the 23rd episode of last season. It’s another crescendo. We can’t really talk because it’s other big set of shoes dropping. There’s like 8 shoes dropping in that one.”

Sera Gamble
In the premiere, Castiel is pissed at God for not being there and he has to deal with what to do with this unlimited power.
“He will start to see what that means, the wall being down.” “We’re not to let him off scot free of course and it becomes a pretty interesting story line. What’s wrong with Sam’s head? Something that Dean points out when it starts to happen, this is like not being attacked by a witch or something this is a true break in Sam’s psyche and maybe it’s something that cannot be fixed.”
Dean really takes the loss of Castiel’s friendship hard. “They don’t have a lot of friends of Facebook.”

Jim Beaver
He doesn’t know how many episodes Bobby is in this season, but Bobby is in the first 3 episodes.
He couldn’t talk much about Castiel’s relationship with Bobby without giving away too much. They all were really trying to be secretive about the first episode.

————————————–

As we saw in the Season 6 finale, Castiel (Misha Collins) brought down the wall in Sam’s head that protected him from his memories of hell. We saw him stagger to save his brother, but the memories will continue to plague him. “We pick up right where we left off,” Padalecki says. “I think not only the audience but the actors would’ve been really upset to just pick up three months later like ‘Glad that cleared up!’ so we pick up immediately. Sam has figuratively seen the worst he’s going to see. So now it’s up to Sam to acknowledge that and move forward.”

As always, Sam is doing his best to stay strong in the face of his challenges. When Season 7 opens, we’ll see a Sam who is “tortured but refusing to let himself be tortured. As always, the Winchesters are bearing their burdens with honor and with courage.” We’ll see Dean become increasingly worried about his brother. “Sam says ‘Look, I know that seemed weird, but I’m on it, I’ve got it, I’m the only one that can save myself,'” Padalecki explains.

—————————————–

The first episode picks up seconds after the season ended and Jim Beaver says the season is “scarier” than usual in some ways. “There’s a certain sense of futility that’s come over us in the first episode,” Beaver told press. “We did a scene just on Friday where one of the guys was saying ‘Well, I can’t do anything about this. So I’m just going to do what I can do, and work on some seemingly smaller things.’”

——————————————

Showrunner Sera Gamble wrote the premiere and she said the writers had a really great time discussing what each of them would do if they were God. Castiel has declared himself God, he’s “really pissed at his dad who never came home”, and the writers are having fun coming up with ideas of what Castiel would do with unlimited power. Jim Beaver said that what happens to Castiel is “so different from what the audience may expect”, but couldn’t elaborate any more.

————————————–

Before everything “goes to Hell completely” for Castiel, we get to see him playing god, says Gamble. Also, Misha Collins hinted that we’ll see an unexpected parallel between Castiel and the Antichrist in the season opener.

———————————————

Castiel is “drunk with power” at the beginning of the season, Misha told us in the pressroom before the Supernatural panel. “He’s trying to do what he thinks a god should be doing on earth and in heaven, which is fairly righteous and wrathful, rectifying of the world’s problems.” Misha adds that Cas does a “fair amount of smiting”—with the death toll in the thousands. Modest Misha later mused at the Comic-Con panel, “I’m surprised no one has written a god role for me yet—it seemed like such a natural role for me.”
Source: E!Online

—————————————————–

Dean just feels like Cas is completely lost to them,” Gamble said. “Sam is more likely to try and give someone another chance, in this instance, but for Dean this just comes from a place of despair that he’s lost this person, ’cause he doesn’t have that many people! They don’t have a lot of friends on Facebook.”

—————————————————

Season six ended with an angel, Castiel, becoming a God. Fans wonder what direction the story will go since it seemed to have peaked at its most epic plotlines, which included the Winchesters preventing the apocalypse in season five and then having that cause a civil war in heaven in season six. But of course, they kept it tight-lipped inside the press room. “My first pitch for what happens in the beginning of season seven is, basically, we are in a world where Castiel is God and there’s like a 900 foot tall statue of Castiel in every city,” Edlund revealed with a giggle. “A man in a trench coat pointing and have Sam and Dean go ‘fuck!’.”
Source: LA Weekly

************************************************************************************

Spoilers on Castiel:

The season finale cliffhanger “is a very pivotal moment in Cas’ development,” Gamble adds, describing the character as “transformed.” “Basically, that’s what we’ll be exploring next season, so there’s just a big change.”

A change so big it calls for less of a focus on Cas and the goings-on in heaven? While there will be angel stories in Season 7, “they will probably be more self-enclosed,” reveals Gamble.

Collins is expected to return for the Season 7 opener, but how much of a presence he will have on the show beyond that, if any, is a mystery Gamble can’t delve into “without giving away a lot about the premiere,” she says.
